3 Ways to Make Learning Knowledge Management Easier

If you are learning knowledge management for your company, then here are three ways to make that a little easier.  Essentially I have talked to people in the field and scoured the net and found three good resources on learning knowledge management. Here they are, in order of greater involvement:

  1. What is Knowledge Management? by Knowledge Praxis - This is a internet article with a conversational explanation of knowledge management.  The problem with many online sources is that KM thought leaders tend to be very verbose and can get a little technical in their articles.  However this article was very approachable because it was written to be a little less technical and more conversational.  Less intimidating for those learning knowledge management
  2. Join a knowledge management organization - There are many organizations to teach and promote knowledge management.  Many of them are listed at Dr Duru's massive knowledge management resource listing.  Find an organization that suits your learning style and goals for KM and participate in that community to accelerate your learning knowlege management.
  3. Enroll in a training course - AJ Rhem & Associates have a 5 day course in Chicago.  See details and register here.  It does involve more investment than the prior two options but you are given almost personal tution by a KMI Certified Knowledge Manager for a full business week.  They may have a special discount or promotion available for your industry so be sure to call them up and ask.  This is the fastest way for learning knowledge management.

Hi Diwant,

Thanks for the acknowledgment! I am glad folks are finding my page useful.

Thanks. You have built a good resource.

Diwant, this is excellent information on learning about KM. Getting educated on the subject will allow you to begin to apply the concepts and start realizing value right away. Check out the Knowledge Management Institute and KM Cluster or your local KM organization to get started.

It is really only the tip of a very big iceberg. You can get lost in the amount of info available out there!
