Now that I have (almost) collated the initial information for End of Life Planning, here is the next step – to make my own list and act on it.
I continued my web search looking for some more direction on End of Life Planning besides what I have already gathered from section 1233 (http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3200/text). It appeared to me that the term “End-of Life Planning” is being used almost synonymously with “Advance Care Planning”. A good discussion on this topic appears on http://www.caringinfo.org/PlanningAhead.htm. I also found good information on and via http://www.aarp.org/families/end_life/.
However it seems to me that the key headings under which I should do my End-of-Life Planning would include more than advance care planning, and are as below. They do cover the main threads of advice I have gathered, but I would like to see them strung together in up to seven easily memorizable headings (why seven? Read about George Miller’s "The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two: Some Limits on Our Capacity for Processing Information", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magical_Number_Seven,_Plus_or_Minus_Two). The list could change as I start exploring details. Its priority is based on ‘if I died while acting on it, what items should I take care of before others?”
